Making plans to come to the gathering in Jan. If anybody could give me any advice on tackle, locations it would be apreciated. I have never fished there but would love to make that an regular trip. I usually go to Jonesville 4-5 times a year and would like to make a couple of fishing trips on the side. Going back up at the end of Feb. to Dundarton for the Chitlin cookin' and may try to fish then too. again any advice is welcome.
Two things to remember about offshore fishing: Watch the teeth - Watch the hooks:D
Its gonna be hard to say what they are wanting, where they are at, and how deep they are, until we get there and do a little scouting.... Usually in the cold of the winter you can find them in the open lake fishing 4 jig rigs normally 10 to 15 feet deep, but this year has been a strange one, last I heard they were catching them in 8fow fishing under a cork about 5ft deep and in the bayous. Normally Randy has a chance to get down there a day or two ahead of the group and has a pretty good ideal on where they are, but he has a new boss and I don't know if he will be able to get there ahead of time.. Some of us will be fishing friday and we will all get together and find out where and how everyone did and we take it from there for saturday.
as for baits, well there is a citgo station on the lake that sells shiners, some of the northerners will bring rosie reds with them, and the rest of us will be using tube jigs, mostly ordered from Midsouth Tackle.
Our arcenal will consist of 2-12ft and 2-11ft bnm ultralites, with 4 jig rigs (superjigs from midsouth) pumped up with glow white crappie nibbles using The Bait Pump..............and there will be a couple of 5-6ft rods for casting incase they are still around the banks and we have to use corks.

You can't fish with a hung line!
