    Default Depth Finder Questions

Hello guys it has ben a long time. I have a question for you all I got a new boat about 6 months ago and haven't got to use it but about 4 times but I am planning to start going a little more. The question I have is that I need a good depth finder to go on the console that will pick up brush and maybe some fish, the fish are not that important but the brush is. The one that came on the boat Mickey mouse would not wan't it. I would appreciate your suggestions. You now the best for less.

    Thanks

i love my lowrance 522i. it has the gps on it as well, that way you can go back to that brush that you find.

The Eagle Fishmark 320 come highly recommended as a entry depthfinder at $139. I just bought a Humminbird 717 for $129 on clearance from Academy (MSRP $199) and It's GPS ready so when I'm ready I can add a GPS antenna for another $100. I have yet to use it but I think it will work fine also for locating brush.

What type of budget you have? Then go from there. You can spend from $100-$700. Want GPS/Sonar combo or just sonar, color, monochrome, etc. I have the lowrance color units and love them. They are great and of course you just have to understand the unit and be able to read what you are seeing.

The best fishfinders for finding brushpiles is a hummingbird with the dual beam plus
Like a matrix 35 37 or 47 they don’t make the 35 or 37 anymore but I think they still make the 47 john

You may be asking the impossible there... although they are similar, each brand may show things differently, I have a HB 525 and it shows the bait fish as a big blob on my screen and the structure as a hump/hill looking thing at the bottom of my screen and the fish as a fish symbol, whereas other units may show the baitfish or the actual fish as "arches" on the screen...
Your best bet may be to get on the electronics board and read some of the post there, there are some of the members that post pics of what they see on their graphs and do a description of what you are looking at... Here is the link to the electronics board if you are interested.

I have a matirx 37 and like it a lot.
