    Default Boat Carpet 2

I have a 2003 Tracker Panfish boat and the carpet is rotting in it. The dealer wanted a lot of money to replace it so I was thinking is it possible to rip out the carpet and put down some sort of Rhino Liner. Tracker boats have marine plywood floors and decking. Would a substance like Rhino Liner work on that?

My carpet is rotting on the floor, but bow and aft decks are fine. Scraped carpet up on floor, waited two day and primed it. Then put two coats of non-skid gray paint (to match carpet). Don't see why Rhino Liner won't work and in fact I thought about doing that but then got this other (cheaper) idea.

Default will you slip when wet

I was wondering if you use rhino liner how it would be when it gets wet.....would you slide around on it?
Installing new carpet isn't that hard. Once you have the old carpet up and the floor ready put the new glue down lay the carpet in and trim it with a box knife.

Next door neighbor had the same idea but when he got the quote for the Rhino Lining he backed off in a hurry !
He ended up replacing the carpet himself.
Would suggest that you seal and paint (2 coats) that plywood before you glue that carpet down - and Oh, yes dry fit it first before you put ANY glue down.

they make a bedliner that you can apply yourself with a roller like paint. i've seen it on trucks and it does a good job. it has a very gritty feel after it dries so i don/t think you would have a problem slipping. might be worth a try. good luck

they make an epoxy paint that is designed for the bottoms of a swimming pool. it is so tough that when you get it on a brush, the paint will cure while sitting in a bucket of paint thinner. we gused it on my dad's pool and the also make this ground up rubber stuff that you can mix in with it for diving boards. it is very anti slip surface. the more grit youi put in the paint, themore slip proof. we bought ours at caddo paint in shreveport, but im sure that any paint store will carry the epoxy paint. as i recall, it was about $40 a gallon, but that was 10 years ago. let me tell ya, it is tough stuff.

Hydroturf. Good stuff. We used to use the rihno liner in our boats but it is still slick and hot has hades in the summer. The hydroturf you can't slip on and you can walk on it barefoot in the summer. Easy to install too.
