Turtle Bayou area is a large area when it comes to fishing. There are miles of canals. Some are good and some are better. I haven't fished there much as I have some closer places. If the gas prices stay down I'll probably do more fishing there this coming year. Tube jigs are real popular in this area. Blue and white are usually productive and as I found out this past year, the green pepper flakes are also good. Of course the pattern might have changed since it is now colder, but I usually find that in the winter a small bait in white is hard to beat. My favorite is a panfish assasin with gray or black back and white belly fished slowly from the bank towards the middle of the canals. If you'd rather use a float as many do, fish the jig about 2 1/2 feet below the float, again casting towards the bank and slowly working it back to the boat. Just ask some of the hunters, I sure some of them can point you towards some of the better canals. Some of the hunting camps are on gated canals and could be some of the better fishing will be right in sight of the camp. Either way, good luck and keep up posted.
    Merry Christmas,
