I spoke to Mr. Smith the owner of Smith marine yesterday and he told me that they still manuf. the old sytle Tidecraft boat. I told him the way I found out about it was due to Crappie.com. I very intersted in one of the boats. He told me they had no way of e-mailing pictures. Is there someone that lives in this area that could go by a take a few pic's and e-mail them. This would save me about a 6hr drive. Any help would be apprecated.
You may try PM'ing BamaFan. I think he lives in Minden.

I have known the Smith's my whole life & they are the best people to do bussiness with. They may have a pamplet with pictures of the boat, they could send you. If not, in a few weeks I may be going by I'll see what I can do.

Mevin Smith Sr sold the Tidecraft name and Bass boat molds about ten years ago to a company in Texas. That company as since gone belly up and Mel Jr has recently gotten the name back. They kept building different boats all along in Minden as S.M.I. The old standard Crappie boat we call a "bathtub, or Cigar hull" is a blunt nosed stick steer type in the 14-15 foot range. It just like a million or so others that everybody built in the late 60s, and 70s. They call it the SirVivor. They also have something new built on the old 15 foot Spitfire mold. Its wider, much nicer looking, and all open inside other than the two pedestal seats. If you see it you'll want it. If I go over there this week I'll send you a picture. Sent you a PM. Don

BamaFan, Thanks for the offer. Precher said he was going by in a couple days and would get me a few pic's and info. What do you think about these boats?
Thanks Again
I've never fished in one so I really don't have an opinion but I can tell you they are a Classic in these parts, lot's of them on the water so there must be something to them.Originally Posted by Bayou Boy
