Speckle, there are several different ways to tie the knot but the one I use is one that Randy (Slab Hunter) showed me but it is difficult to put into words. If you can make one of the gatherings I am sure he would be glad to show you. But as for right now, I know Markham (Fishin Magician) had posted a link to some animated knots and if I remember correct he uses a dropler (sp) knot. Let me dig around and see if I can find his post for you.
Here you go, try this site out.

This is the knot that I use and I fished all weekend at Larto and never broke any off, and caught about 60 fish with about 3/4 of them being nice fat ones.

You can't fish with a hung line!
Speckle I use the surgeon's loop shown in Shadow's link. I never have them break. I've broken off more hooks/jigs on my polamar knots than on my dropper loops. Very easy to tie. Just remember to wet/spit the knot before cinching it tight. Dry friction weakens those small diameter lines very quickly.
Curly do you use the Surgeon's Loop as a dropper loop to tie on more than one jig or hook? The antimated knot demo indicates that it is to be used on the end of the line to tie on a hook or jig.
Jlaughlin72, the special knot that you showed; do you use it in place of the "Dropper Loop"?
The "Dropper Loop that is shown in the antimated knots is especially hard for me to tie. I am 64 years old but my fingers seem to be a lot older than that . Is there an easier way to tie this knot?

I found this video on YouTube that shows a very simple explanation on how to tie a Dropper Loop.

Thanks Fred I like that version of the dropper, I am going to give it a try.
And Curly is right about the surgeons knot. It does not weaken the line and you end up with a single line to the hook or jig which is prolly better in very clear water and might also let the bait/lure move more freely.
If it did not take longer to tie I think I would use surgeons knots for all my droppers...

Yes, I use it for the three drops and just tie the improved clinch knot on the bottom jig.Originally Posted by Fred Rankin

Was looking thru a knot book at BAM and saw this knot with a modification, he wound it back down the same amount of twists as going up and said it made the loop stand out better or something to that effect, any thoughts?Originally Posted by jlaughlin72
