Where to put in on Caddo?
Hi everyone! I usually lurk here but I am very excited by all the good reports and beautiful pictures of white perch many of you are catching out of Caddo lake. I would like some ideas of where to put in and the costs to use each launch. One condition, I have a small 14 foot Jon boat with a non-working 9.9 outboard. So I am limited to my trolling motor, limiting my range and to where I would like to stay in protected water. Also I live in Vivian, so I am looking for something on the north side of the lake or in James' Bayou.
I know the cost for shady acres is $5 and I cleaned up on a large mess of chinks there last spring on my fly rod (that was a blast!) but does anyone know the cost to put in at shady rest? I have put in at Hwy 173 in Mooringsport wind came up on me and loading the boat was a pain in the butt. I love fly fishing and fly tying, but also love to eat sac-a-lait and hope I can find a spot where I can catch a few on Caddo. Thanks in advance for your help!

Launch
Johnson's Ranch is a good place to launch. A lot of people fish fairly close to ramp and cost is $4.oo.

If you are looking for the closest place to vivan on the north side, there is Poters out of Gray TX. but as was mentioned Johnson Ranch is the hot spot right now and it would be about be about 30 min. by way of smithland TX. Would be happy to give any info you need call my cell at 455-0745

Trolling motor is fine for the Uncertain area. Its about 20 miles from Mooringsport. Your La permit is all you need. With a good battery you can fish all the good areas. Shady Glade is $3 and johnsons is a buck more. I like Johnsons ramp better but stay to the south edge on it and avoid a medium hole on the north edge. It runs east west basicly. Shady Glade has a long narrow area to back through that is not too bad in the light but hard as heck in early hours.

keep your eye on
jeems (james) bayou. fish were caught there this time of year in 07.
launch at SHADY ACRES, on 'oil city ferry lake road' west outta OIL CITY.
just launch, troll out to the channel and start fishin. MOORINGSPORT was good but has been sporatic lately, you can also launch and troll out and fish there too. but if you want to ketch some quality fish, JOHNSONS RANCH is the place to go, soon as you launch you'll 'see the crowd'. as with most places "follow the crowd" - no crowd - no use fishin' - go home
good fishin
