Thanks to all the good reports on here my Dad, sister and I were able to hit Mooringsport before the rain hit.
My Dad and I snuck out there Friday morning around 7am and started hauling in slabs in 15-20ft of water fishing 8-12 ft deep. Using shiners, reds, and jigs. Don (Kingfisher) was there with a friend and they were putting some good fish in the boat aswell.
Here is my dad with a good pair…
These two came at once on side by side rods…
Fish are like little footballs out there. Stocky, plump, just plain fatties… This one was 15 inches went over 2lbs…
Once early morning gave way to late morning we started getting all our bites deeper fishing 16-18 ft in 20-24 ft of water.
This was about the time more fishermen started showing up.
Like this flight of pelicans coming in to go fishermen air force on some shad…
And these fishermen, Mr. Cajun Dave and his friend David. Who pulled up and promptly started putting slabs in the boat.
Dave was keeping a bunch of dinks though, as usual, so I had to hold this one up to show him what he should be after. (just kiddin)
Bout the time Dave got there my Dad had to get back to Shreveport for work and we had to head out around 10:30. We had around 20 keepers with 3 right at or over 2lbs. Biggest was 15 inches 2.2lbs.
Oh had 3 nice white bass too… Here is the table.
Once I had these cleaned I met up with my sister who had just gotten her new truck and we hooked the boat to it and headed back to CADDO!
Did not make it to the lake until 3pm but as soon as we arrived and set up we were bringing more fish in the boat. Dropped baits to the bottom in 21 foot of water. BAM double up one for her one for me.
Then some more gooduns… My sis got this action pic of midair slab headed to the box.
She was not just handy with the camera though… Despite the cold and drizzle she was working them fish over.
fishing ninja!

You know they are biting when you get doubles on one rod.
Even caught Scarface crappie. He must have “Said hello to my little red”.
Not all crappie… caught some dink kitties, and some LUNKER yeller bass.
Action continued from 3pm until dark right down on the bottom. Sonar was plum full of fish…
But at dark they shut off. Ended up with 23 between 12-15 inches. With 2 over 2lbs…
And my sis was excited to break her truck in with the first fish in the bed picture. So here it is! :D
Thanks to all the good reports on here we were able to make two good trips to Caddo in one day.
And just in the nick of time because that front hit the next day. Thanks yall!

GO GET UM
Those are some great looking fish. I was thinking about heading out there this Saturday morning. Hopefully, you good fortune will spread to me.

I plan to try (again) to go Sunday...Saturday I have to ride around through the neighborhoods in our area on a fire truck. Every year, our fire dept gathers all our trucks, puts a santa on top of each one & spread out across our district going up & down each street waving & throwing candy to the kids & the kids at heart! The people love it & we look forward to it every year! If I have time to go Saturday, it will be late that afternoon.
