This is a first for me. I've been wanting to do this for some time and finally got it done. I used marabou in white, purple and chartreuse on a 1/16 oz. jig head with a red sickle hook. The fish wasn't the biggest I've ever caught but a nice one all the same. The only negative is, that was the only one I caught. My son caught a 2# slimy green thing which we will properly dispose of shortly with no fan fair.
The sac-a-lait I will cook up for my father-in-law, its the only kind of fish he eats. He is 94 years old and yearns to go fishing. He still gets around good enough but the boat ride would do him in. So I figure its a fair trade, he get the fish and I got his daughter for the last 35 years. Go figure. Enjoy the pictures as I enjoyed the catching.

That's neat! Nothing like catching fish on jigs you tie yourself!

aint nuthin to it, just practice and trial and error, some spammers claim their jig is the best in the worldbut we all know better. the best ones are the ones you tie yourself. the more you tie the better you'll likeem. just put a drop of super glue on the start wrap and finish wrap and you're good to go!
good fishin'
Gene, Congrats on the catch. I tied my first jig not that long ago and like Skipper said, there's nothing like catching fish on your own creation. By the way, thats an interesting color selection.
You can't fish with a hung line!
Thanks for the comments, I plan to do a bunch more soon and will post pictures. "J", you mentioned the "interesting color selection", down here the most popular color with the fish and fisherman is a blue and white tube jig or and black and chartreuse one. I didn't have either blue or black marabou but I did have purple. So I made a crossbred of sorts using purple for the back, white for the belly and a little touch of chartreuse on each side to hopefully stand out in the stained water. It seemed to have worked but since I only caught one and no one else around caught any, I just have to experiment more.

Nothing wrong with that fish and catching him on something you made yourself makes it all the better! Thanks for the pictures.
