OK I'm ready to try Caddo at least once.![]()
Someone please tell me on this map, where are y'all launching, and is there any camping areas around there?
Thanks in advance!![]()

Slab, I know there is a launch on Hwy 1 at the south end of the bridge, Drift-In Landing. There is also one under the railroad trestle but I have no clue how to get to it.
As far as camping, I think a few miles further north on Hwy 1 there is a camping area at Earl G Williams Park. There is also a launch there but it is a pretty good run back to the bridges & if it is windy it gets real rough since it is wide open water you have to run through.
These links might have the info you need on campgrounds.
As for the boat launches it looks like you have a couple marked. The one on Hwy 538 is directly under the bridge. It's sort of small so if it's crowded, there's not much room to move the trailer around...of course, that may just be me because I need a lot of room!!:D :D
The other launch you have marked is in the park in Oil City. North on Hwy 1 past Hwy 538 and The Triangle convenience store, over the bridge on the left past the Oil City sign. There's a sheriff substation at the entrance to the park.
For a bait store Sportsmans Depot is on Hwy 1 between Blanchard and Mooringsport. I thnk you can also get bait at the Triangle, but not sure how consistent they are. I've only bought shiners there once.
Let me know if I can help any more.

Hey Randy, glad your feeling good enough to get back chasing them crappie. Caddo sounds like the place to go. Hope you get into them if you get to make it up there. I want to try them again up here tomorrow, it's suppose to rain, but I won't melt and the fish are already wet so what the heck.
A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

The drift inn boat launch is on hwy one on the south end of bridge but it is very bad I used it this past Monday night . The launch at the bridge in Mooringsport is by far the best and very close to the action . I don't know of any camping places but will ask around . I work about one min from the launch in morringsport and about 16 mins. from work so from my house to the launch I recon it would take a person a grand total of 17 mins. You are more than welcome to post up at my place if you can't find anything closer got electric and sewer hook up too.

I appreciate all the input because I never dropped my boat in Caddo before.![]()
Gonna have to do like I did at D'Arbonne and just get up there and check it out.
I am feeling a lot better, but that high fever is hard to shake.Makes a person feel bad for days afterwards.
If all goes well, I'll be heading up soon to see what all the ruckuss is about. :D
Thanks again,
Randy

Randy I've been down with some bad crud myself, but these guy's are driving me crazy. I found a phone number for the Earl Williamson campground, 318-995-7139. I called yesterday (Friday) but got no answer. Hope to see you on the water soon.
Hey Man You Can Park That Travel Trailer In My Yard If You Need To. I Live About 5-7 Miles From The Lake. You Launch Right There In Moorningsport And Look To The Right And You Will See Where To Fish. I Just Hope This Rain Doesn't Screw Things Up To Bad. Let Me Know What I Can Do To Help.

I just came back from the Texas end and there are some places there to camp. The little town is not much, but the Shady Glade has a real nice motel...extra clean and about 60 dollars a nite. Private launch so no traffic and not many people up there because of the other end. As for the fishing, we fished about a day and a half off and on and probably caught 75-80 perch, only kept 23....but man were they some slabs. Took a while to find them, but this cold weather will help. Call me if you want more info. 397-4532

Randy,
What ever you do, DO NOT launch at the Hwy. 1 bridge launch. My brother in law did that there and it tore up his tire on his trailer. The best launch is to take Hwy 1, and take a left at Hwy 169, then take a right at LandMark grocery store and follow to the right, over the RR tracks, and the launch is on the left. You will see all the boats and the right fishing area directly east of the RR bridge. Don't know of any camping areas there. Good fishing. We will be out there later today in a brown & black Ranger with a Yami 115. Hope to see ya there and glad you are feeling better.
