Default Has the Chicken Coop turned on yet?

    Hello Everyone

Looking to drive down from San Antonio to fish the Chicken Coop. Can anyone tell me if it is worth the trip yet. If I don't go over the next week, my next opportunity is the 5th of January weekend.

    Thanks

I haven't heard anything about them since early this year. Maybe you can send a PM to Percher or Skiptomylu, If I remember correctly they are not too far from there and may have heard something.

    Default Coop

The water is still around 63 degrees just north of Pendleton Bridge. I have not been to the chicken coop but reports are maybe a few fish in the mornings. I'm going to try it over Christmas and New Years.

My cousin called me this morning and he was headed to the chicken coop, only problem is that he is more of a bass fisherman than a crappie fisherman. He did say he was going to give them a try though. He should be back tomorrow some time. I will let you know what he tells me.

no reason to fish the coop till the water gets around 52-55 degrees.... here is a link to hollypark marina's fishing report... they are located 2 miles from the coop. http://www.toledo-bend.com/toledo_be...shrpt&which=hp

My cousin called me this morning and say he did real good on bass caught about 22 and kept 8 good ones. He did try the chicken coop for about an hour fishing with shiners and said he only caught 1 catfish. The ole timers that were up there told him that it hasn't got good yet, confirming what SWLA said. Wait until it get cold and stays cold.

The water is down to 58 now but might even warm up again with the 70 weather coming up. I went up to the coop Sunday and there is a lot of shad balls there but it was very windy and rough. I did not see another boat. It was too windy to fish really, so I trolled crankbaits for about 1/2 hr, no luck.
