NW Louisiana, Cypress?
I have been working way too much and haven't been able to go much. We've Been to Cypress three times over the month, it was slow and no size at all. Word is its pretty good on Cross, up in PawPaws. Anyone done any good on Cypress or Cross?

Been getting skunked on Cypress lately. Yesterday was no different. I went to Paw Paw today. Caught a few but the wife was ready to go about the time the big ones started biting. Today was the first time in a long while that I wasn't pulling cranks or spider rigging. Sure was nice to feel that thump!

Back to Cypress today. Fished with jigs only. I only caught five, lost two. All on the same black w/chart head and tail. One of my tied jigs, which was the last of the batch. Couldn't get a bite on anything else. Saw several others fishing with shiners, not doing much good either. I think I should have been on Lake o the pines with everyone else that was tearing them up.

Last time I was on Cypress, I noticed all the cattails are gone (I think thats what they are). They sprayed them.
Even the ones way back there that dont bother any skiers or boaters. Dang.
My spring Cypress fishing has been destroyed.

Pretty sure that messed the spawning cover up. Why would they kill the cattails, helps with erosion.

I noticed a bunch of dead cattails. Saw some homeowners burning them off. I didn't know they sprayed them. Might explain why the fishings been goofy. Many years ago, I lived in a neighborhood with a hydrilla problem. It had taken over. We all met many times with specialists to weigh the options of spraying to kill it. After months of study, they gave us a poison to spray that "wouldn't affect the fish". After spraying the entire bayou, we didn't notice any fish kill, but for several years, you couldn't hardly catch any. We assumed the poison had run most of them off. It may not have anything to do with Cypress, but it sure has been a noticeably tougher year to catch them compared to last year.

I was waiting early one morning to get a sticker at Cypress and talked to one of the lake ranger.
He told me exactly how much salt to 50 gallons they sprayed one nite, with almost instant results and
no danger to the water. Salt water kills salvina and its cheap.
