Just wanted to say, you all have a great site here and I'm glad i can be apart of it. I just got into the Sacalait fishing, i have been chasing Reds and specks all my life with occasional bass but never have targeted Sacalait until now. I mostly try and fish with my boys and enjoy them. We only have 2 boat trips under our belt but many more to come. I will fish mainly around the New Orleans Area but will go out as far as an hour and half truck drive from the house. Thanks for a great place to learn and teach what i can.

Welcome from Lake Charles! Like you, I grew up chasing reds and specks and since I have joined this site (way back in 2004 or 2005 I believe), I can't stay away from the fresh water specks! My wife fusses at me b/c I live 5 minutes from the launch at Big Lake and I travel an hour and a half to go chasing sac au lait.

welcome, i grew up fishing sac a lait and brem and i never appreciated it till about 4-5 years ago, when the fever set in. i have fished reds & specks and i always come back to the freckle fish. its something that gets under your skin that you can't shake and its hard to explain to someone who just looks for them occasionally, once you start really getting into it it thinks it worse than bass fishing. being from New Orleans i would say the Lake Des Allemands would be a great place to start i always hear good thing about that lake. im from morgan city and i usually stay around here, but there is a lot of water between me and houma to fish with almost unlimited spots to try.
