    Default Tic Faw

Was planning on going to Des Allmends but it was not to be. Heading east on I 12 and I make it a few miles before the Springfield exit and everybody comes to a sudden halt. z I said the tic is near and I can get out this traffic jam. I'll hit the shoulder and if Barney catches me I'll plead the 5th.

Made it to the public launch under LA 22 and the place is packed. Doesn't anyone work (spring break maybe?) anymore? Water is low but looks good.

Ran to my favorite hole and hooked a big gar right away. He pulled drag a few times before he spit the bait back at me. Tried deep and nothing. Put the slip cork on and bam goggle eye after goggle eye on the stumps and trees.. But that's not what I'm here for.
Went to the lay-downs and that's were the sacs were hiding. Lots of throw backs and I kept a few that I generally throw back but had a special order to fill.

Most of the fish were caught on a black, green, and chartreuse tube 18" under a cork.

    J.R.,
Can't imagine what would have happened if u had made it to Des Allmends!!! U'd have needed a bigger icechest! Very nice!
I passed over the tickfaw and the tchefuncte yesterday on my way home from Alabama on 1-12...was I far from u? Never fished that way...but u sure make me want to!
As a side note, I keep a record of most of my fishing trips, and last year on April 1 I caught 35 sac-a-lait at Henderson. They were spawning and around the trees...everyone was catching. What a difference a year makes!!!
