fishing was extremely tough the first 2 days with the wind blowing from the north at 10-18mph..caught most fish in 8-10fow..caught a few near the bank in 1-4fow..the water temp was from 58-62 degrees..the first day the afternoon bite was great. the next day it was early morning which i missed..averaged over 30 fish a day..the best day was 50 fish..at times it was painfully slow..2 hours with only 1 fish..if you fish this lake you have to be very patient..also you will have to weave in and out of all the boats. ..my buddy Docsac Brooke didnt land a 2lber this time,,maybe next..i still looking for that 3lber..you meet some really great folks.. also..would like to thank crazyboutcrappie Terry for the info on the lake..the key to this lake is not to get stuck on just one pattern..if the bite is slow on the bank move off a ways..i would fish 5 feet, then move to 8-10 fow...plan to get hung up a lot..but thats just how it is... fyi. the store at the marina only stays open until 3:30 or so. the Cabins as of March22 have new check in/out times...4pm in, 10 am out..the state is cutting back..
I've caught some nice fish in that spot also, did you fish all over the Lake are mainly that area. I'm going there next Friday I hope we do well also I think they will be on the banks by then. What colors worked best for ya'll. I hate to hear about the new check in and out times that puts a damper on my vacation plans with the family. We usually fish until 10am and check out by noon.
A Bad Day of Fishing is Better Than a Good Day of Work!
crappiecatcher, i fished all over the lake. the coves by the cabins, the jungle and near the marina..caught fish in every location...i think everyone has their favorite color jig but for me it was blue/chart but with a curly tail..tried hair jigs, flies, all sorts of colors, but when it came down to it the blue/chart worked the best...good luck when you go
You did better than me amd most people I talked to,went friday from 2-6 and cauht 4,went sat from 7-12-caught 8 and most people I talked to were doing about the same.I fished the north end around the levee rocks were i picked up my fish on a blue thunder color. The males were right at the bank, edge of the grass the females were further of the bank, did not try much in the 10-12 ft today mostlt only up to 8.THEY SHOULD BE REALLY MOVING SHALLOW BY NEXT WEEKEND.Water temp today was 60-62 degrees.
Thanks for the info I guess I will start with the colors I told you about in that other post and if that doesn't work I have a few new ones to try but blue chartruese tube has caught me a lot of fish over the years. I haven't had a great deal of luck with it in Poverty though, they seem to like blue and white better. But last year they sure liked green black chartruese maybe because they don't see it that much. Those sure were some nice fish.

Thanks for the report Bob; glad to have you back in So. LA.
Bob that's some saddle blankets there. Got a question what is the PVC pipe under your seat, I have an idea it's a rod holder?
Leave two for seed. Bruce
Looks like you had a good trip.thanks for the info. I am going up Next Sat. and staying at the cabins til Wed. If it continues to warm up they should turn on. The south La. bite has already begun!
