When to the doc's office to get my regular Pro Tome blood test, came back and decided to just go to the water at my bulkhead/bank and see what was happening. In no time I had 3 that were 14" and one 15" with the little guy coming in a 1 1/2 pounds. The other 3 were all 1 pound 10 or 11 Oz.
Just using a cork and little hair jig. Man though there is about 4'-5' of trash, small limbs and such I had to pull them over and since I took my smallest rod (4' 6") I had to just pull them over all that stuff.
It started when I wanted to try this little hair jig I tied and wanted to see what it would do. One of your buys from Louisiana sent me some jigs that he can't get now because someone stopped having them or stopped tying, I don't really know. Anyway I got Crazy Angler to make a mold like these and he sent me two samples to try. Needless to say they work and I have to admit I am not one that fishes with hair jigs much, but I think I am convinced!
Anyway got in my boat a bit excited and just ran over to one of my spots and nothing there so they are just starting. What made me do this? When going to the Doc's office I noticed a lot of Dogwoods blooming and that means crappie are coming. I think they are just starting and the water temp was 60.

Those are some cool looking jigs.. I fished with hair jigs for a few years before I started using plastic because of the cost and the amount of jigs I was loosing hanging up.
You can't fish with a hung line!
i was at toledo last week and i found a good number of fish in Caress Creak me and my buddy found them late one afternoon and caught 20 then went back the next morning and caught our 50 they were in 5' to 2' of water water temp made it to 68 that last afternoon
Today is the first time I personally found water above 60 and I did see 65 across from my house. My neighbor found some a little farther down 6 mile that was 63-66 I think, but that was last Thursday and it cooled down since that. However it looks like today it's back around that temp, but colder weather coming it looks like and maybe even rain so if it's cold and cold rain thing will cool back down this weekend I guess.
All looking forward is a guess at this point. I have not yes in this part of the lake found any real concentrations in shallow water yet. I did catch a few shallow per the pics I posted, but that is all. Another neighbor got 3 shallow the other day, but not hearing anyone really getting into them down here.
Did hear of someone catching a really load last week up North.
