This a great state we live in..."sportsman paradise''..but i think Terrebonne parish is one of the most unique and best places to live...there is really no off season..for fishing...during the winter we catch big redfish, trout, sheepshead, flounder, and crappie..the spring, crappie fishing is fantastic,,bass fishing is great, speckled trout and red fishing is still good..come the summer...the red fish and trout fishing is fantastic,,,plus offshore is awesome,,,huge snapper, lemon fish, amber jack,,,etc..then comes the fall...red fishing and trout fishing is ''stupid good''...and all this while we catch crappie between all this action..and all of this fantastic fishing takes place within a 40 mile range..oh i forgot to mention the big catfish. big bluegill, shell crackers, goggle eye ..yellowfin tuna, black snapper, king mackerel..cast netting for jumbo shrimp..crabs by the bushel...i forgot the great duck hunting, frogging, bow fishing at night...bull reds by the hundreds in the passes around islands..20lb fish-40lbs...want sharks..have caught 100lbers..black tip. hammer heads, sand..giant sting rays..then there is the music and food..i have fished from here to the arctic circle...have loved everyplace i have been..but here is paradise......
Dorothy's statement is true; "There is no place like home."
The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.
pastor you are so right..there is no place like home ...when i go to other places to fish i totally appreciate and respect the local culture..
Bob, reading that post made me think that you are a real estate salesman...lol.. I am not that close to the salt, but I am about an hour- an hour and a half from all of it. Louisiana has alot to offer the outdoorsman/woman. That's why I am still here.
You can't fish with a hung line!
J...no i am not...after i wrote this..was thinking this was more like a advertisement....lol its simply true...i really dont think there is a better place to live...except for the hurricanes..although one day i hope to retire on a lake full of giant crappie....of all the fish i catch, they are one of my favorites....my Dad, grandfather were both great fisherman...my grand father was know as catfish willie..my dad was one of the greatest crappie fisherman here in terrebonne...he won most tournaments he fished..
Bob you've said a mouthful, but unlike most fisherman, all you said is truth. LOL I've been out of touch with fishing for over a year except for a couple of trips last spring and do I and the family miss it. Most of our fishing is fresh water with a few trout trips in the fall sometimes. Hoping and praying for a better year for us.
