The fishing was really good mid day early afternoon...caught some really nice females on tree tops..kinda like a fall pattern..go figure..also had some males around standing trees..some fish still full of eggs...it was warm and not as windy..had lots of other fish to entertain us between the crappie bite....bass, big blue gills...off to the Point on tuesday...havent seen any post ..not sure if thats a good sign..it has been a very strange year of fishing...last years hot spots are off...places i have never caught fish were on fire...i just want one 3lber and i will be happy...lol

How many you end up catching today. Haven't been since last week although I did fish a bass tournament yesterday out of Bayou Black(brutal wind to say the least)
Lane
i have averaged about 30 fish a trip...i have yet to be skunked in this area..and thats saying a lot..especially sacs...they can be the easiest to catch or impossible...i have always said a good crappie fisherman is better than any bass guy out there...if you can catch them when they are off...you are a great fisherman.....
Congrats on the catch and thanks for the report.
You can't fish with a hung line!
Great catch!! If you don't mind me asking, what kind of bait did you use? Jigs or minnows? If you used jigs, what color combination(s)? Thanks!!
Slab...i use strictly jigs..caught them on my favorite ...blue/chartreuse...did catch some on pink/char...and plain chart...like one guy said...i ll use any color as long its as chartreuse...
must clarify...if the water is stained...i used anything with chart// if the water is clear...i switch to white/any clolor..
Which boat ramp do you normally use to put your boat in? I have an 18' Nitro Fish-n-Ski. Is the water deep enough in Lake Verret for me to safely run my boat?
slab ...i put in under the bridge at amelia...its a very nice landing..yes its more than safe,,fish the union oil canals ..it is the 4th bayou on the right..go all the way to the end...many canals with standing trees/...not all canals have fish...if ya dont catch fish...move on...and when ya do find them...stay in that area
Thanks for the information. I hope to get to Verret this weekend!
