Fished a couple of hours Sunday afternoon at Lake Lafourche and didn't get a bite. A number of boats out, mostly bass fishing along the banks. Only fish I saw caught was one man with shiners in a tree top. He caught 2 white perch and a catfish.
Better luck next time Tbone.
The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.
Sounds like a hard weekend to fish for everyone. Sorry you didn't load the boat.
You can't fish with a hung line!
I have a friend of mine who has a camp down there. It's been a few years since I've fished it regularly, but he says the lake hasn't been the same for the past couple years. I can remember going and catching 200 a weekend so this is strange. Have you experienced the lake not being as productive the last few years as well?
Probably been fished out by all the pole fishermen.
Be as smart as you can, but it is always better to be wise than to be smart.
I haven't really noticed Lafourche declining because I don't fish it very often and have never caught a lot there. I like going this time of the year because you can see some really big gators sunning themselves on the bank.
I used to fish by Cat Isle store but later started going to the other end with my friend. There's a lot of fish down there. You turn at the church on the right a few miles from the store.
I never fished at the Cat Island end, always turned there at the church and fished the other end. But that landing gets a little crowded sometimes and you need to avoid the concrete ramp, particularly if the water is low. I dropped off the end of it once and had to wade out to lift my trailer tires back onto it. It's best to launch in the dirt beside it if you have a 4 wheel drive or a small boat. The last few times I've gone I've launched at the Marango Swamp campground.
Yeah that could be bad, we always launched at his camp luckily but I'll keep that in mind if we ever go to a public launch.
