went back to the grassy lake area...lots of wind and people fishing..managed to catch 27..mostly average fish..just one big female...the right at dark bite just never happened...of course the major spawn was last week...caught most fish around standing cypress and stumps...couldnt talk the big girls in to biting..a few white crappie are starting to show up...they tend to spawn later, at least here they do..will be staying away from the masses tomorrow...these shallow bayous tend to get muddy with a lot of boat traffic...back after them on sunday afternoon..then headin to Poverty Point for those big beautiful white crappie..i think this year i will catch that 3lber...lol
Thanks Bob,good luck with that 3lber....

Good luck at Poverty Point next week while your playing bumper boats with the crowd. Then again, maybe you'll have the lake all to yourself.
The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.

snapperslapper...will report on the point..but cant wait till snapper season...my buddy was offshore about a week ago..said every rig was full of snapper..big fish...they had a hard time catching anything else because they were so thick....if the point doesnt give up a big fish this year going to miss..next...my big fish at the point is 2lb 12oz...4oz away from my goal...
I know what you mean. Think we are getting 6 or 8 weeks this year for snapper season. this is crazy! fishing deeper and deeper just to find fish that can go in the box. Amberjack are the same way, they are everywhere and you can only keep one per person.

yea i have pushed for better regulations on crappie...but maybe the gov...should just stay out of it...they screw up everything...
"..... they screw up everything..." , Bob you've said a mouthful of truth there.

Bob if you want a big one in Poverty Point your best chance is to fish it in February. Most of the biggest fish are caught then. I saw a 4 lb fish that was caught year before last by a guy that lives on the Lake he caught it in February in 20 FOW behind his house. I will be up there in 2 weeks I can't wait to see your report.
