What speed do you run your boat while heading to your hot spots?
your questions really depend on what you do though. if you tourney fish then you want fast and if you leisure fish you dont have to have fast. also some people cant handle speed and need a slow smaller boat. some lakes dont support the big boats. Just like the lake i live on i would love to see someone in a bass boat follow me on this lake. i have a 9hp motor and i could loose a 250 in a heart beat by just cutting of the channel and in the trees where they wouldn't be able to go. So it is really depending on what you do and what you need.
You just hit the nail on the head, as far as the things going on in my mind. LOL. That is why I figured I would make the poll and read any input. I have never fished any of the waterways around the Monroe area, so I am lost. I grew up catfishing on Tensas river and Bayou Macon with a old fiberglass Ouachita with a tiller handle 40 HP Evinrude.
speed has nothing to do with cathing crappie I have never caught a crappie past a slow troll if you need to get there fast leave earlier jusr my opinion.
Noslab.
Oops, picked a speed before reading the post.My boat runs around 33 mph, but I usually go between 20-25 mph. Seems to be alot better on the gas if youre not running wide open.

My Tracker, with a 40 HP, will run about 25 mph wide open. That is plenty fast enough for most situations and lakes I fish in. As a matter of fact, this time of year, I do a lot of idleing. LOL.
The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.
Considering I fish Black Bayou Hosston, I dont even open up my 9.9 unless I am in the channel.
before i got my nitro with a 125, i have a 22.5 foot bumble bee with a 250 merc on it. and man did i like to run that dog. she would run around 85-90, depending on who and what was in the boat. and man, she handled like she was on rails. but then i wised up and realized that even my fastest retrieve reels could not keep up at 90. LOL that boat was fun to take to cross or cypress and run, but ihated feeding her. she was not easy on petro at 90. you could amost watch the gas gauge go down. and she held 56 gallons.
