Where to fish in Lafayette Area
Hi, i'm new to the forum and love crappie fishing. I was wondering if anyone is catching fish in the basin or somewhere near the lafayette area within a 1 hr drive. Wanting to find out also, which lakes or bodies of water are good to fish since the hurricane fish kill. thanks guys

Hello (sweet) Mike, ha. Welcome to the site. I can't help you with that area but we do have a few members that fish there. I haven't heard much lately except that the water is up and muddy in most places.

Hey Mike!
Once the duck season closes, I'd recommend Lake Martin. It stays pretty clear, and a few folks who are in the know do pretty well on it. I even manage two or three a day during the peak of the spawn :D, and that's saying something!
I gotta say, though, that a few of them have been slabs - pretty good fish to be taken on flies, and I once got a bass of around five pounds on one of my little sac-flies. Fish like those are what keep me going back.
Anyway, I warn you that it's a tough lake, but there are some fine fish of both species in it (Some big choupiques, too!
)
Bon chance.

I know some people really racked up on one duck blind last year during the spawn. I fished there last year for bass but could only catch 2 or 3 fish on an outing. Maybe somebody that's fished sac a lait this time of year can help me out with a few pointers.
