    Default Sickle Hook

Anyone use the Matzuo Sickle hooks for crappie? I ordered a few but they have not arrived yet. I was told the design helps keep fish on when fighting near the boat.

Thats all I ever use when making my jigs. Also use them on plastics. I feel they are sharper than other hooks

I normally use the sickle hooks. I order the hooks on ebay then pour my own jigheads. Here lately, I hadn't had time to make my own, so I have been using the regular hooks. I know the sickle hooks seem to get a deeper hookset, but most of the barbs are smaller than regular hooks, so I don't know about the theory of keeping them on better.

they seem to give me better hooksets and fewer missed fish when fishing with jigs.

They are super sharp and I very seldom miss a hook set. They are dangerous to your fingers when you tie your own jigs. You will get stuck.

I love'em. Found them on Ebay for a good price. I buy the sickle and the bronze. Seems to hook deeper in the fishes mouth and I lose less fish when I'm trolling.

I found out about the sickle hook last fall from reading this forum, ordered some and found that these fisherman & women know what they are talking about. I don't think you could go wrong with this hook.

Default Sickles only way to go!

I have found that the sickle hook has a much wider gap so you can get away with a smaller size hook. The best place I have found to buy these jig heads are on the internet at chuckanddeb.com you can buy 100 of them for about 10 bucks.
