Smile Praise the Lord, the drought is over.

Some of you may remember my very first post, back in July. I was in the process of moving and someone had helped themselves to all, and I mean ALL, of my fishing gear; from rods and reels to tackle box. Well, the Lord finally blessed me with some new gear, even better gear, but you know how moving is; it takes forever. Well, today, I finally took a day off from my pastoral duties and went fishing. And, the Lord even let me do a little catching. I went to Cypress Lake, at Benton LA. Kept 16 nice crappie plus 3 nice bream. Caught them in 12-14 FOW 10 feet deep. Caught them on two different colors; electric red and chartreuse and electric green and chartreuse. Boy, was it fun to feel the thump again. Praise the Lord. His love and mercy endures forever. It is going to be hard to go into the office tomorrow. Maybe my wife and I can go Saturday. Those thumps are addictive. LOL. God bless.:D

I agree with Johnny, rain is good but sometimes it's too much, like the last couple of weeks. Looks like we will get a break by Sunday. Paster congrats on the shower of blessings in the form of new and better gear and on the bountiful catch. Glad you got your moving done as that is quite a chore. I've been there, done that and would not like to do it again, but I know it's coming.

    Hey Pastor,

Did you catch them near any brush or were they out in the middle?

Do you do any welding? Just curious I know a pastor who lives in cotton valley, and i repaired his welder one time. Thought it might have been you.

Dock-Shooter, they were not really holding to any type of cover, at least nothing visible with the eye or two depth finders. I fished a couple of different places and the fish were at the same depth in both locations. Yes, I have done some welding in my day, but it was not my machine you fixed. I only moved to Cotton Valley the first of July.

I moved from Weldon Baptist Church in Bernice. I now pastor Unity Baptist Church in Cotton Valley. I put in at the dam and run up the lake. I started fishing between the channel and the bank across from the beach at the park. Had to move because of wind and moved back south to first pocket on the left. I'm sorry, I'm not very familiar with the lake. Thursday was only the second time that I have been on it. I just figured if I found them in 12-14 FOW in one place, they should be in the depth range other places. I actually just got lucky and found some 12-14 feet water in that arm off of the main lake and the Lord blessed me with a very nice mess of fish. Hopefully, next time I can learn how to post some pics. I would love to go fishing with you sometime. You know that they are going to drop Cypress by 6-7 feet beginning Sept 7.

dude----it is a small world. my name is mark weldon and my kin folks are from bernice. my dad was born and raised there. lots of my kin folks are still there. both my aunts (christine caldwell and joanne sanders) and several cousins still live there. i am very familar with the town of weldon too. sat in several services at the weldon b.c. as a kid.

a friend of mine, amanda dukes, married a guy that was a preacher up there somewhere. i cannot remember his name.

Wow Mark, that is incredible. Amanda, if this is the same Amanda, married Robert Davis and he was the pastor at Weldon just beore I went there. The last I heard they were down around Starks, LA, which is south of DeRidder close to the Sabine River.
