    Default OT: Dry storage

    Hey guys,
Is there any boat that has really dry storage? My current boat(SeaArk) and the boat I thought I wanted(Xpress) both have a bad rap for getting gear in the dry storage wet in the rain. It would seem a basic consideration in design for a boat to keep the storage areas from getting wet. Tracker seems to have a good idea in the tube system in the edges of the storage areas. I wonder if it really works? Unfortunately they do not have the right combination of two livewells and sufficient storage.
    Thanks,
    Larry

I know our dry storage underneath the seas have gotten wet before. The compartment underneath the seat in the front of the boat stays dry though. We have an Alumacraft

Dry storage whats that? Never had one that kept anything dry, the last boat I bought I didn't even want it would rather the open space to move around in.

    Hey Larry -
Don't want to sound too awfully pessimistic, but I've run a dozen boats of various types and sizes from bassboats to Lafitte Skiffs (Shrimpers) and bay-boats to deep-vee offshore boats, and the only thing that was "dry" in any of them was the Pelican Case that I kept my camera in!
Sorry, but "dry" and "boats" go together about like oil and water, and if a salesman tells you any different, ask to borrow his Blackberry for your maiden voyage to check it out! Bet he won't let you have it!
I once drowned a Nikon 6006 AND a cellphone at the same time in a compartment that was supposed to be "dry". That's just one example of the experience I have in this matter, so take it to the bank!
And withdraw some of your savings to buy a Pelican Case! :D

I don't know what you guys are talking about! I've had a Tracker Tournament
V17 since 1990 with 8 under deck storage areas. When I bought it I put 1 inch foam on the bottom of each area, however I have yet to see any moisture in any of the storage area! I got caught out on the lake during a
3 1/2 downpour in 45 minutes and needless to say I was very wet!!!!!!!
but storage areas all dry. I also carry a dry box under the console for tools,
plugs, fuses, troller parts, electronic clips and potty paper(ya never know!)
Even the rod lockers stay dry. Maybe I got lucky with this boat, but NEVER
    a problem with moisture!!!!!:D

Perhaps the pounding and subsequent saltwater spray (And occasional green water) my boats took were the cause of it. And, perhaps again, a bit of neglect on my part could have been a factor in some incidents. Nevertheless, nobody I knew kept their susceptible stuff (Things that were not completely waterproof) in "dry" storage compartments.
Not unless those items were also enclosed in a water-tight case.

the only trouble I have ever had with my dry storage is when my boat was full of water over the compartment door
