    Default OT - Vermilion Bay

Vermilion Bay is looking progressively better. The reds are getting bigger, flounders are showing up with more regularity, there are more and more shrimp getting chased by something other than trawlers, the water is clearing and getting saltier - and a guy got a 2-6 speck from a kayak off Cypremort Point this weekend!
    Fly fishing time!!! :D

Sounds good Pete, now how many did you catch? .....just kidding. I hope we have another banner year here in Lake Decade, you know, the place where its so easy to catch 'em. ha. Thanks for the info.

Intracoastal City side northwest of Redfish Point.
And yeah, Paw Paw Gene, I've been catching 'em! Funny thing, though, is that we have not stuck a fish bigger than two feet! I'll admit, two limits of 20 to 22-inchers look pretty good in the ice chest, but where are the 8 to 10-pounders?
Maybe I'll find some of them today.
    Gone fishin'...

    Update Again!
A buddy and I got four this AM on flies while fighting a 15-knot wind that was predicted to be five! Had to hide from it along stretch of shoreline that I had never fished before. Finally broke the ice, though, with a 26-incher.

Congrats pete....the water must be pretty darn clean to catch them on the fly. Have you ever fished lake fearman inside redfish point? Alot of flounder and reds in there,in the fall

Yeah Ryan, we fished Fearman twice in the past two weeks, but only caught three and lost a couple of others. Nice water, though, and plenty of bait. It seems like a good place to hide from the wind, but I prefer the edges of the bay itself.
