    Default Darbonne Bayou 8/2/09

Went back today but fishing has slowed down a lot from yesterday. Looks like the water has came up a couple of inches maybe that is what is slowing the fishing down. Caught probably 10 and only kept 3. the fish I caught weren't as big as yesterdays. Seems like we were catching them on the edge of the channel more today same depth 2-3 foot. Pink and white and cajun chicken (I think what it is called). A fellow give me some yesterday until I could get some. Lots of boats again today but they cleared out early. Nobody I talked to was doing real good on crappie but there were some good reports on bream some were catching limits.

Sorry to hear that this trip wasn't as much of a success as the last one, but atleast your getting out in the water.. I haven't been able to make a trip in a long time and noticed yesterday that I have a bearing out on my trailer, so it looks like I am gonna have to get that done before the larto trip.. Thanks for the report.
as for the color, I have heard the Electric Chicken, and Cajun Cricket, but never the Cajun Chicken, I bet it was the electric chicken. does it look like this?

Hate to hear it slowed down, but now i dont feel as bad about the 15 i kept today. I put in at hollands and fished back towards boggey bayou, most of what i caught was around stumps and trees about 2ft deep.

I had a run in with a 4ft gator today, i was fishin in a slough around some trees when i look to my left about 30ft away and there sits this gator. Well about that time i hook a pretty good crappie, he was to big to air lift so i had to play him a little when out of nowhere comes that gator he's up on top of the water and haulin butt straight for my fish so me not wantin to lose my fish to this gator i grab my line and try to swing him in, AND SNAP my line breaks. Needless to say we were both mad. I know a 4ft gator cant hurt you, but one day he's gone grow up and he was not scared of the boat at all, he got close enough i could have spit on him.
