Default Hurricane OT or is it?

Looks like we are setting up for what could be a devastating blow to the La. coast again. The fishing is back in the saltwater areas and the fresh water areas are getting better with each season. But best of all, people are getting their lives back together. I sure hope and pray that it leaves us alone and ask all of you to do the same. If it comes anywhere near Houma, my family and I are heading to Shreveport for safety's sake. Worst case put the storm very near here early Tuesday morning unless things change. Everyone please keep safe and don't be hardheaded and stay in the path of a killer. May God bless us.

Yea Gene, don't stay around if that thing starts heading your way! I know we will be heading for higher ground if it happens to come this way. Doesn't look like we will be heading out anytime soon but I will get with you when we do.

Default Watch'er close Gene

Stay safe as we know you will. As far as the wetlands, Katrina/Rita fast forward the erosion clock by fifity years overnight when they paid us a visit. If it were to happen again the damage will be more extensive. Even now we have areas of wetlands where freshwater marsh is exposed to salt water. Its dieing daily and sinking thus moving the coast alittle bit further north. The saltwater marsh was wiped out eliminating the buffer zone between saltwater and brackish/fresh water. Some of the freshwater lakes in sola now have saltwater fish showing up where we never would have dreamed possible.

You know this storm might be the one to prove or disprove all the theories going around about hurricane protection and how high and strong levies need to be. Lord forbid, but this one could really wake up America to the seriousness of our plight. The fact is we could wake up the day after to be living on waterfront property. Please keep us in your prayers.

I work in a hotel in Lafayette and all of the rooms are reserved there and at almost all the others in the area. I feel that its wrong to do the reservation thing cause I feel they are making them in several areas beside here and most don't show up and we have to turn folks away when rooms are empty because we have to hold them for being reserved. I feel in a case like this it should be on a first come first served basis, instead of folks from this area having to travel a hundred miles to find a room. Seems like folks would want to head North instead of east or west? Most of these folks are from New Orleans and I surely don't hope it does not hit there, cause I don't believe our area could take another doubling in population. I hope it just heads west toward Mexico or falls apart. Talk about taking advantage of the situation, I saw one store on the way home had already raised the price on the pump by 3 cents since yesterday. Ray

I wouldn't want it to hit Mexico any more than I want it to hit LA. I wish it would take a really sharp turn right north of Cuba and head back out to the Atlantic. I'm not expecting it to do that though, any more than I'm expecting it to just fall apart...but miracles have happened before so we'll keep hoping. Everybody do what you can to be safe down there.

Yep I'm getting prepared for it, even though I'm over here in Africa. My wife and a friend of mine are going to pick my boat up from the shop in New Iberia tomorrow and bring it back home in Opelousas. At least at home she will be in the garage, and not sitting out in the open.

I don't know what to think about it yet.. everyone freaking out around town and they don't know where its gonna go or even if its gonna continue or fade out. As far as the projected path predictions, they have been wrong on the original predictions probably 8 out of the last 10, including Katrina and Rita, especially when they are that far out. Guess we will have to see in a few days. Money is tight around here with school just starting and all and I don't want to go out and spend a bunch of money if its not necessary... Regardless, if it is coming to meet us, yall stay safe and be smart.
