Default A river runs thru... a little OT

The rain has been ungodly this week. As I drove the neighbor hood I kept looking for some guy building a great big wooden boat. Thank God I didn't find anyone. Saturday I wanted to take a buddy of mine fishing and do some scouting for a Sunday trip with my wife Linda but It rained all morning an only broke in the afternoon after other plans were laid. This morning look like the rain would hold off a while so Linda and I took off shortly after daylight. We went to some of our normal haunts around Orange Grove. I caught 2 respectful bass and 1 blue gill and Linda only caught 1 keeper gill. Boy you talk about slim pickens. We got home, picked up the boat and decided to rest a little before I dove back into my cabinet making. About the time we were up and at 'em it started raining. This time it was a big bad thunder shower with real bad lightening. As I checked the radar I noticed that it wasn't moving but just stuck over us. An hour or so later Linda looked out the kitchen window where she was preparing the fish for supper and screamed something about water outside. I opened the front door and this is what I saw.

These two shots are directly in front of the house, up and down the street, after it had gone down about 18 inches judging from the water mark and debris.

Man Gene, looks like you should have left the boat in the driveway and just cast from there! Hope it didn't get your garden too bad.

Hey Pawpaw Gene!
Yeah, that rain's been bad! Coming back from Shreveport Saturday I hit a big squall at Grand Coteau - 35 mph for 10 minutes or so. Coming out of it in the right-hand lane I was up to 55 or so when my truck began fishtailing, first across the left lane, then back to the right and into the ditch. It had three chances to roll there - cannot believe it didn't! As it finally slowed I kept it going and managed to get out of the ditch - another minor miracle, considering how wet everything was.
Barb and I went back to the scene yesterday. The tracks made my stomach turn over. So did the thought of there having been a road sign where all that mess took place. I am one lucky little white boy!
And we could do with just a little less rain down here, too!
Pete

Pete, I'm glad the "force" was with ya. That sounded two close for comfort. Nice to still have you around in one piece.

PawPaw:

Glad that the storm moved on before you floated away. That is a sick feeling when the water is rising and all you can do is watch and hope and pray that it will stop. Hope your garden made it through all the high water.
