Thumbs up Boat Dealers

I have read a lot of reports for advice on boat dealers and their service so I decided to post this message. I bought a 16 ft al-weld with a 40 Nissan, in 2003, at Redmond's Marine in Lafayette. La, This spring I went to set out my trot lines and had no fire at the plugs. I brought it back to Remy at Redmond's for service. The problem was the ECU which is the computer that controls everything. Well, that part is 1,000.00 but Remy went out of his way and called the Nissan folks and convinced them to warranty the part, even though it was 2 yrs out of warranty. I found this to be a step above in customer care and felt folks should know about this helping hand and a dealer that went out of his way to help the customer. Redmond's is located in the old Alex Sterling building on General Mouton if anyone should wish to visit. Good fishin', Ray

First of all, Welcome to the site. You sound like you are from the Lafayette area. Good to see another member from down south... and its Good to hear that they helped you out like they did. From the sound of it, they DID go beyond to help out. and Thanks for the review, it may come in real handy for some of us down south.

I live in Youngsville and was looking at either the Duracraft or Alweld from Redmond's. I actually had just emailed Raney when I came across this post. Sounds like great service. Hope we can work out a deal.

Default Remy's

I bought the 16 ft alweld but wish I would have gotten the 50 hp.; even though I get 30-35 mph now!!! The boat is heavy and will take a beating and is the reason I bought it. The only other thing would do is buy a factory designed boat cause I feel it would have saved money compared to outfitting it myself. They have a 15 ft that a good deal wider inside the building that I would check out.

Good luck; Remy and Tim can give solid advice and great service. Just remember to tell them if you plan to use it in saltwater and get a S.S. prop.

J Laughlin ---I used to sign on as Ray for years but my hard drive went out and I'm just getting it together. I sure missed all ya'lls lies, especially Shadows even though he trlls the truth some time. HA HA Good Fishing to all And I can't wait to hit some big white shrimp. Does anyone knoe if the LIL Paririe Bridge over the I. C. Canal is open. Sure is a long way to go aroung and if still closed I think I will hit Henderson nexy week while their drawing down the H2O

Hey Ray, glad you got back on here. I still lie, but mostly on the salt water board! lol

I came back from New Orleans this weekend and the water at the basin was lower and cleaner than I have ever seen it before. I need to get over there and give it a try. I saw several boats fishing the pilings on the way over there on Saturday.
