We couldn’t keep a minnow up here alive if we were using 3 heaters. They would probably get boiled anyhow. Wind and cold has definitely been rough. I don’t mind the cold, but tired of the constant wind even all nite long.

What about a heat lamp clamped to something and aimed at the bucket?

When my tanks were outside, I raised them up on cinder blocks, put some scrap lumber around them and put two heat lamps in aluminum reflectors under them. Ice would form on top of the 100 gallon tanks but never over an inch thick. Also had an old cast iron bath tub that I used for years and just put 100 watt light bulbs under it.

Think they would work fine since you have a lid and they are pretty insulated. They should retain enough heat to keep them going

Go to Tractor Supply or Attwood's and buy a stock tank heater for $30.00 or less. We had single digit temps for several days and the ices was 3-4" thick on my tanks. I put a new heater in one of the tanks overnight and the ice cap was gone the next day. I just kept rotating the heater to the various tanks to keep the tanks open. The aerators also kept the water moving to reduce the ice too. My tanks are 100 gals and 300 gals. These are used to keep the horse and cattle water troughs open thru the winter. Works like a charm. I have used them for 20 years.
