    Default Filter issue

Been keeping minnows just fine now that the temperature has dropped here in Central Texas. Using a Frabill dual bubbler that aerates quite well in my 50 gallon tank. My problem is my filter. Invested in a fancy 5 level filter for $278 thinking all I needed to do was clean the filter often. Started losing some minnows so called Pets Mart. They suggested a light feeding once a week so we did that. Looked today and the filter had quit pumping. Tried to call vendor that sold it but they were closed for holidays. Any thoughts on an effective and relatively inexpensive replacement? Thanks for your experience and input.

Magnaflow 360 by Marineland and my brother said it did not cost that much but was still right at $200. Bought it at Pet Smart. 3 levels too, not five. I will get my story straight eventually. At least I know the pump quit (smile).

I looked it up, should have shopped around. I'm finding it for $25 to $360.
I found 2 sites that say a charcoal pellet got in the pump and stopped it. Needs to be dismantled, cleaned and inspected daily.

    I run a 55 gallon barrel with this filter/pump. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Aqua-Tech...riums/10291977
Along with that I have this. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Camco-Wat...-Pack/14504322
That's powered with this through a coil of tubing in a fridge. https://www.harborfreight.com/200-gp...off-63403.html
Filters are changed once per week. Tubing cleaned once every 2 weeks. The heat gets my minnows, 62 degrees and I start removing them.

Finding the Camco filters on sale I ordered 6.

Canebreaker—thanks but we just learned another lesson. Super cold front came in and we could not heat the water fast enough. Lost about 500. We only have a car port to house the tank so have to deal with Texas sun. Forgot about the occasional intense (for us) cold. On a good note though. Magna Flow is sending a completely new unit. Thanks so much for your advice and other comments. We will just keep on plugging and, hopefully, learn enough to house some good ole crappie minnows.
