    Default Trapping minnows

So this year I decided to start trapping minnows again for live bait use.
After careful consideration I will no longer use wire mesh minnow traps.
I tried several times with the black ones and the other ones. Nothing!!!
My friend has glass minnow jugs but moved away because he got cancer.
I got froggy and sucked down 20 2 liters & 2.75 liters after swearing off pop.
    Talk about being sick.
With just a little bread I caught a few hundred minnows and golden shiners.
    Bait for days!

Everyone laughed when I made my tank.
They all use big plastic drums with fancy aerators and bilge pumps to circulate water. All them minnows needed was water skis and a lifeguard.
I used a triple thick Styrofoam cooler that I had on hand.
I drilled a hole in the lid and bought a small aquarium aerator from Walmart.
I had to change the water more often, but the triple thickness kept the fish from being affected by the hot day cold night fall climate we have here in Kentucky.
People laughed but I caught this and a few of its friends.

This is the best minnow trap that I have ever used. They have 4 entrances so they catch 3 to 4 times as many baits as most traps.

    How to build them.

    Dude that's kinda cool.
I'm going to build me a crawdad trap soon.
Should have done it while it was warm, but all my free time went to fishing.

Some of our locomotives had a 4"X24X24" air filter for the cab, the sides were the 4" sheet metal. The sheet metal covered the tops about 1 inch. I dismantled a few to make 1" corners. The filters had either 1/4" expanded aluminum or plastic about the same to hold the filtering material in place. I made a few traps with these. Expanded aluminum or plastic on the sides instead of sheet metal. Some were 4 through 24", 4X24X24 to 24X24X24" We catch silver sides and crayfish mostly.
