Thread: water for worm box

When you add water to your worm box can the water come from a water system with chlorine in the water?

I just dampen my newspaper from my garden hose. Seems to work just fine.

I work in and operate a water plant that feeds chlorine. The best thing you can do is either catch rain water or if you use tap water is ( put tap water in an open container and leave it open for a couple of days. All the chlorine will disappear or you will have so little that it will definately not harm the worms.

I have a plastic 55 gallon drum that I fill up and let sit for a week to get the chlorine out before I use the water. I have my worm beds in a old Pepsi drink box and also a old deep freeze. Takes a lot of water to keep the bedding damp. I use about 10 gallons in each box every week.

Same here.I fill up a large flower pot with water from the tap and let it sit in the closet where the worm bin is.I use it to sprinkle on top of my grain mixture to get it wet.Just wet though.Not very much once the moisture level is right in your bin.
