I read that it is not legal to put out brushpiles in PA. Would anyone have any insight as to who to contact to try and gain permission. Has anyone ever attempted to do this the legal way? Most of the lakes around here have nothing but mud bottoms and any types of wood or stumps always hold fish. It would be nice to add more of this to the waterway. Why are things in this state so difficult.
Tube, I have put stakebeds in and have worked with some rangers to gain permission. However, the real permission comes from the fish commission and they have a particuler way they want the cribs made. For the average joe it is expensive and once built they are very heavy and you need lots of help to get them in the lake. The ones I built and placed were under the radar and not even close to what the fish commission wants. The stakebeds I built eventually were destroyed by the current.
If you go to the fish commission website there is a description and instructions on how to build the cribs they want.

I have "accidentally" placed some old Christmas trees in some local PA lakes for Bass and they work great. Just be discrete and make sure you are not blocking navigable water and you should be OK
