It was a cool, calm morning that Saturday in October. The water was warmer then the surrounding air, making a thick dense fog hang over the lake.
It wasn’t until after Bob put his boat in the water that he realized something wasn’t right.
He double-checked his boat – the plug was in, the minnow bucket was still full of water, and all his tackle was in order.
Something just didn’t seem right with the morning, and this bothered him. He had his license, the truck lights were off…………………..he just couldn’t put his finger on it.
The feeling of fear began to overtake his thoughts.
Then he realized what was out of place. It was quiet. Deathly quiet. No morning birds chirping, no night animals making their last calls, no leaves rustling in the thermal currents of the morning.
It was like a predator was nearby. It was the same situation Bob had seen off his treestand when the chipmunks would suddenly disappear. They sensed a fox coming before he ever heard or saw it, and all was quiet except the slight noises this predator made when moving around.
Suddenly a light breeze blew from the east, thinning some of the fog that lay over the lake. It was then Bob caught a glimpse of the predator that was present.
His fear increased; does he put the boat back on the trailer and hide like a chipmunk -or- does he get in his boat and confront his fear?
What is this predator that is on the water he fears?
It’s the predator named ZIG!!!!
:DOk Bob, you’ve opened that trap you call a mouth – time to put some bite behind it.
October 7-9 isn’t going to work because of the regular meeting at Arthur on Sunday
October 14-16 is open.
October 21-23 is open
October 28-30 is open
You pick the weekend you want to be served up by this Easterner.
I’ll bring the trophy along so you can look at it. Since it’ll be coming home with me, I figured it is the least I can do.
It’s still Yellow Creek you want to be embarrassed at right?

Daggone, Bob sure does scare easily!
Listen, I'll spot you 5 fish, even though you have the more time on this waterway and have probably been fishing it all summer.
Come on - you started this, when's it gonna be?
:D

Scared? No way! I am trying to get my schedule figured out. When I do I will let you know. Its looking like the end of the month though.Originally Posted by Big Zig
I haven't been on that lake for a month now and the last time I was there I got skunked for crappie and that has never happened. That's alright though. I will get them when it counts. :D

Here's how I understand it so far: (for those following along)
- Bob is still willing to get slam dunked by Zig
- We will be pre-fishing the lake Saturday.
- I will share all the wrong information with Bob as to how and where I boated so many crappie.
- Sunday will be the day. At 7:00am we put on the fishing hats and start dukin' it out. At 12:00pm (high noon), we will bring our 5 largest fish to the scales (Bob, I'll bring them - forgot to tell you that).
- Whomever weighs the heaviest stringer of five fish gets two things:
1) braggin' rights for one year. "Best Crappie Angler of the Year" if you will.
2) The trophy. More on this later..............................
