Early in the week they were here and there. Many hours per fish was fairly normal where I was. Caught a white that went almost 15 inches in a stakebed in 4ft of water.
Yesterday they were more concentrated or maybe just biting better. Brushpiles in spawning cove mouths around 15ft were consistent everywhere we looked. Always the bottom minnow on my KY rig, even with the sinker tickling the brush. They wanted it right on the pile. Also saw a lot caught just off the steeper banks at the mouths of the coves and around riprap. Every fish I saw caught or heard about was on a minnow. The surface temp was 58.5 at Malcom Creek yesterday afternoon. Cleaning stations were busy last night (4/1).
Jonathan Creek was normal crappie madness. Boats as far as you could see behind the bridge.
I would like to get down to KY lake soon and try my hand at crappie fishing there. I always bass fish when I am there, so maybe it is time for a change.
