Fished Barren from about 11 to 4 on Saturday. Thought it was going to storm so I didn't bother getting up early to get over there plus two bass tourneys were going off early too. I laid in the bed with the sun shining in my face till I came to the conclusion that the weather man was wrong.

Put in at the State Park Ramp. Parking lot half full with bass rigs. Started on some cane condos I put in last spring in 12-15 foot of water. Fished them with minnow under a bobber, minnow tipped tubes jig under a bobber, and a slider jig cast and reeled in steady. No bites. Moved on down bank casting slider grub and caught one male black crappie 6 inches long. Dishrag strike. Water at mouth of creek was mostly clear with light green tinge. Water towards back of creek became more and more stained but visibility was always more than two foot. Very clear for barren IMO especially after the rain we got. Only thing I can figure is that since they are holding back that the muddy run-off is staying back in the backs of creeks and not making it out into the lake.

Went up Peter Creek to fish the stumps on right past the golf course bluff. No bites wind was terrible decided to change spots. Motor would not start. Had to use trolling motor to get back to ramp. Decided to kill two birds with one stone and pull some crank baits while I was at it. Lo and behold hooked into an 11 inch crappie in 10 foot of water using a smaller size rapala fat rap (I think) just regular shad pattern. Decided that this might be the ticket and rigged up another rod with a small bomber crappie crank white sides with chartreuse back. Started catching yellow bass and a small white bass pulling cranks too. Caught another 10 inch chunk crappie and decided that the trolling motor battery was about to give up on me so I headed for the ramp. Finally got the motor to hit and got back safe and sound.

Sorry so long. Not temp on my depthfinder. Water clear. Didn't see many others fishing beside bass buddies. Brought home four, two crappie and two yellow bass.
