    Default Back from KY Lake

Fished on KY Sat. from 3:30 until around 7:00 and today from 8:00 till 4:00 w/ my dad. We ended up catching 92 crappie (90% whites w/ about 2/3rds keepers and some really nice ones) all casting jigs to brush in 8' to 12' of water on flats over stakebeds and brushpiles. Most of the fish were about 2' off the bottom and we weren't catching any if we weren't bumping the wood as the fish were really tight to the cover. Get out there and go fishing as the next 3 weeks should be great.

Fished by dam on saturday to pisqah bay. Got completly skunked on crappie but caught several small bass. Found only skipjack in pisqah along the quarry wall and entrance to Ky dam marina. Sunday we had our revenge in Bear creek. Found crappie just like you said. 10 to 12 fow and if you were'nt bumping cover they never knew you were there. Used black and blue tubes, Gulp three inch black and white shad and 2 inch blue and coral shad. awesome day today with a probably 1 keeper for every 10 that went 9 to 9.5" But man it sure beat the heck out of saturday for us.

We caught a bunch of yellow bass as well when we tried some brush on shallow gravel points. Some people look down on the yellow bass, but they pull really hard and taste great! If you are throwing them back don't as they are really good to eat and easy to clean........the lake is also full of them and more people should be keeping them.

I usually keep a few if big enough but I'd rather catch the hybrids during the summer around Eggner's Ferry Bridge. We caught a few crappie this weekend but we were beating the banks. We caught mostly black crappie. Many were short but we ended up with about 20+ for the whole weekend.

I did bad also this past weekend but should have stayed longer. I did note that everyone that we caught was tight to cover like you said. If I got one pole hung up, I had a fish on another. Glad one of us did good this weekend. Taking the family to the beach this next week but will be back the second weekend of April. Hopefully I will get into them then.

You might not have tore them up, but it sure was nice to be out there in March and not have to fight the wind! Barely had to touch the trolling motor this past weekend and that makes for a good day....wasn't wore out when I came off of the water. PM me before your trip in a few weeks and I'll fill you in on the areas I'm finding fish in Blood before you come over.
