Default Thoughts on the FLW incident on Ky Lake this morning?

Apparently, the two tournament leaders had a race right out of the gates to the EXACT same fishing hole. Randy Haynes and Jason Lambert were the 1st and 2nd place leaders going into today. I guess they pulled up on the same spot within seconds of each other and they then swapped paint with their bass boats for a while.

Suddenly, tournament leader Haynes, clearly frustrated, announced that he's going to the house and drives back to the ramp, loads up his boat and goes home. This is a CRAZY, CRAZY situation, I wonder if he loses sponsors?? Look at the money he left on the table.

These bass guys are getting a terrible name, this doesn't help. Thoughts on this bizarre story?

First time I have heard of a pro leaving the lake and going home. I did not hear about the incident but Lambert had over 30#s at the weigh in this afternoon. He is leading by over 19# going into the last day.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!

Over the years I remember when a lot of times the top Pro's would run crazy miles to a fishing spot. I am talking 50 - 80 miles or more. Looking back on it now, I think sometimes it was probably more about getting away from the pack to avoid those situations and allow you to fish without anyone else around to remove that distraction......then it was about knowing it was where the fish are.

It is probably such a good spot that Haynes knew it and did not have a second or third spot he felt he could fall back on and compete. And he defused the situation by just leaving. Some guys know they have to pull back because they know they can get truly violent .

Still...professionalism demands you finish it out no matter what... that situation is going to happen sometimes in competitive and non competitive fishing. YOU HAVE TO DECIDE how you are going to react beforehand...be a gentlemen...stick to it...go to plan B. Not get caught up in the moment.

A lot of occupations have similar circumstances with money on the line. You have to control yourself at all times...pure and simple.

even though it CAN be fun it's things like this that keep me from even wanting to fish tournaments. I Learned things like this can happen in any kind of competition a long time ago when I was league bowling. After seeing a door broke because a bowling ball went thru it and seeing one thrown across a parking lot any kind of real competition just turns me off.

My wife and I ran by a ledge on the west side of the river channel Saturday as we headed to an LBL bay. There were at least a dozen boats piled around that spot and it was right after the bulk of the FLW guys had headed south at 6:30. If I was fishing FLW I would find it maddening to have a bunch of wannabees chasing me all over the lake so they could waypoint the spots I was fishing.

Good amount of money comes into Marshall County for these events but the bass guys just seem to get worse every year. Threw at my buddies boat friday because he was too close. But even after this butthole tossed it as far as he could (a big jig) was still 20 feet from his boat. They don't own the lake. I would yield most likely after being asked nicely but not if they throw at me. At that point my inner chicago gets flying with many bad words.
