There was a nesting pair across from the Van Buren boat ramp last spring.

Ky and Barkley Lakes have lots of them, summer and winter. I have lots of folks who see their 1st one ever from my boat.
When I was guiding snow goose hunts in SEMO, we had to be very careful because they would chase geese thru our spread. I've seen as many as 9 at one time feeding on dead snows in a field.

i will be keeping an i eye out for them now may even take a trip to van buren or guist creek it was pretty cool
At Guist Creek they are up the lake, usually right before it narrows into the creek.
Saw one in Tenn @ Watts Bar, when I was there the first of last month. And I've heard what I thought was one, down at Taylorsville ... just didn't see it. Though, come to think of it, I do believe I've seen some fledglings (or else some VERY large hawks), but not any adult birds.
I do know there are some on Wood Creek Lake, as a friend & former co-worker now lives on the lake & sees them all the time.

We had a nest on our farm a few years ago until a storm took the tree down. That thing was at least 4ft across up in a huge hackberry tree up on the hill above my house overlooking the river. I don’t see them like I did then but did see an adult male back in August.

Cedar creek lake had a pair for a few years. I saw one earlier in the summer but haven't saw them since. The fish wasn't cooperating, I saw the eagle and that made for a great day. They truly are amazing birds!

I've seen a pair several times in the last month on my area of Lewis Smith Lake. Beautiful majestic creatures. And a lot better fisherman than me...
