My crappie was a 3 pound 4 oz white that I caught on a minnow while fishing buck brush on Barkley in about 1988. I caught another one that day that was just over 3 pounds. I filleted both (that was before I became a taxidermist).

My largest bass was 9 pounds 4 oz that I caught on a buzz-bait during a bass tournament on Lake West Point in Ga in 1980. It is on the wall of my studio after I replaced the fins and repainted it. I caught one weighing 8 pounds and 14 oz in a tournament 2 weeks earlier on Lake Eufaula.

Biggest crappie....a tie between a 2 pound 8 ounce this year and a 2 pound 8 ounce in 1974...both Ky Lake.
Big bass...6pound 5 ounces by the quarry on Ky Lake about 10 years ago!

    Talking Biggest "caught" ...

(if the definition of "caught" means landed ... IN THE BOAT)

Crappie - dozens of them just shy of 3lbs - Barkley Lake 1971-1975 - minnows

LM Bass - 7lbs Herrington Lake June 1991 ... Fire Tiger 6A Bomber

(I have "hooked" bigger, of both species ... I just didn't "land 'em" )

    ... cp

Chanuc - That is a great pic! How long did it take to get that smile off your face?
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

Crappie 4lb 13 oz IL farm pond 1973
Bass 8 lb 15 oz farm pond (different) IL.

The crappie is one of only about a dz that I have ever caught there. Caught it on a zebco 202 reel. Wasn't supposed to keep any fish (dad's orders) so I threw it on the bank so I could say it was dead the weight was taken on a certified butchers scale at the local grocery after the fish had been out of the water for ~1.5 hrs.

The bass was caught on a June day right as a front blew in. We had 2 fish around 2 lbs each before the feeding frienzy and ended up with 12 more all over 5 lbs including the big one above and two more at 8.5 lbs, 3 fish in the 7.5 lb range and 2 right at 6lb 12 oz. Cleaned a couple of the smaller ones and 2 of the 4 lbers for the owner and release the others in the pond behind the house. They haven't let me fish since......
