Here is an idea for ya LittleJohn
I killed this buck last year and he wasn't big enuf for the wall. Decent deer and hated to waste the rack and skull by just stashing it away.I looked at some european mounts on the web and kind of took some ideas and had a friend help with the engraving and some woodwork. Here is the final result. In all honesty I probably wont ever mount another buck unless he is around the 120inch+ range cuz of money and space. I shoot does to eat anyways. But this is a cool way to show off a decent rack as well as a shed or skull you might wonder across. The wood is american cedar. Was actually a pretty simple and somewhat easy for the first attempt ever at it. I was happy with how it turned out. Here is a pic or two. See what you guys that have seen some european mounts think. I know this isn't relevant to CRAPPIE, but littlejohn posted a picture of a buck he killed this year and I figured since he is pretty handy he might be able to make one of these to showcase his nice buck. I have a really nice one mounted on the wall, but unless its bigger than that one I can display them like this for darn near free, and I think they look good. John, if you might want to do this lemme know and Ill help ya out.
Here are some pics of my deer from last year on the mount.

Hey Nate, son you done some good work there. Look's like you been doing for a long time. Lot of hunters are doing their mounts this way. I do like them but unfortuate, have already tooked my to the taxidermist. You can also order the steel mount to cover your antlers,I think they also looked good. Maybe will go with one like yours someday. Nate them does are some good eating aren't they. I grilled some backstraps wrapped with bacon the other day and you talked about some good eating.:D. Also I do some canning of my vension and this some of the best eating you can have. Gotta stop making myself hungry. Take care of yourself man. We will get together and do some early winter crappie fishing on the Cave. Hope you are having a good one.
