    Default Chickamauga Crappie 9-26-09

Great day crappie fishing had 30 keepers before 9:00 fishing docks on the river. Move to some docks i had never shot and started culling. We loaded the boat at 1:30 had close to 100 keepers for the day. We caught fish on yellow and white tubes and Bobby Garlands in the baby bass color. Shallow docks had the bigger fish under them. ITS GOING TO BE A GREAT FALL!!!

It takes us 4.5hrs to get to the other side of Watts Bar, mid-lake area ... but, we stop at Wallace World for licenses/food/gas, so that's counting from East Lex, to launching the boat. Chickamauga is just a few more miles South of there ... but, it appears that the major creeks & most of the docks (of Chick) are from mid-lake to Chattanooga. Mapquest says it's 4.5hrs from Lex to Soddy-Daisy Tn. which would put you in that area. (about 270mi trip +/-)
If you can manage to hit the Knoxville bypass, before the weekday rush hour , then you should be able to cruise the whole way without much traffic congestion to deal with.
It would be about another 45min-1hr from where we normally stay, to get to Soddy-Daisy. Still a feasible trip, but we'd just have to plan on the extra road time & truck gas. Even so, it could be the difference in a mediocre trip & a successful one ... which is why I'd consider it as a Plan B alternative. That is, of course, if Watts Bar bombs on us ... and Chick is still hot, when we're there.

Thanks CP. I was actually lookin up directions to soddydaisy and yahoo was saying like 5 1/2-6 hrs, dang, thats KY lake distance(im sure like u said it can be cut down). I have to admit tho, I was zoomin' in hard on google Earth last night checking out the lake and those big river docks!!!!. Looks like some good fishin but like u said docks are mid to lower lake. I gotta work like crazy after all this rain and before real bad weather sets in but as soon as I get some time off chick sounds like a real sleeper, I checked the tva website surveys and chickamauga was the best for black crappie(and whites too) of all the tva reserviours by a long shot(numbers/size/pressure). I like the fact that it doesnt seem to get tons of pressure for crappie (maybe it does and I just dont know), but seems like a lot of chattanooga ppl bass fish it way more often. It does get drawn down though. Anyways, guess Ill keep dreamin, maybe the river will turn on soon....Wish we had docks up here.
