I had the DownVu model. Fantastic 2d traditional sonar, almost-worthless DownVu imaging. Mine had a GT-20 transducer.
I am leaning towards the purchase of this unit. All the reviews I read spoke highly of it. This would also be my first fish finder so I didn’t want to break the bank on the first go. Was wondering if anyone out there has this one installed on your yak? Is it easy to read? Pros and cons? Also looking for a good suggestion on a dependable battery? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a Jackson Kilroy and I am having a difficult time figuring out where to mount the transducer. I was thinking about going to goop route for mounting but I only have dry storage in the back of my boat. I would think one would want to mount it in the front of the kayak? Any thoughts on that? If I am going to mount it in the front, I will have to creative haha
There are "arm" style mounts, I think Scotty is one maker.
One advantage to mounting in the front is avoiding paddle wash show up on the image
I made a ducer mount out of pvc pipe, that I can swing out of the water when extra shallow, or beaching. Basically, I ran pvc through a milk crate side to side, then used a 90 elbow to take it down into the water. Put my 12v game camera battery in an ammo box, and mounted my sonar unit on top of the ammo box, with a couple small holes for the wires. Makes it portable. Works well for me.

My bad buddy! I didn’t see your responses. I am looking to stay away from the arms that are mounted on the outside of my yak. Thank you so much for your input though
