I find it is easier with models with elevated/camp chair style seating. Not because of the height but from the ability to turn slightly sideways in the seat to shoot. If the bow is 12, I like shooting around 10.
Anybody do this? Was wondering if it is easier or more difficult in a kayak....I plan on getting a kayak this summer

I tried it once and the only problem I had was once I paddled to the stall I was wanting to shoot it didn't take long for the wind to move me out of shooting position. I guess if u had a rudder or just anchored in the right spot it wouldn't be too bad
give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
Very easy out of kayak to shoot docks, and +1 on a slightly elevated seat that swivels...
Much easier if you can stake off. A good fish will pull the kayak right into your fishing hole quick.

Enjoy dock shooting from my kayak. Just got a new yak with the peddle drive and think it will make staying in the sweet spots a little easier.

I did a little of it from my canoe. The wind thing was an issue but a peanut can sized anchor, about 8lbs, made a big difference. Anchored or just using it as something to slow the other end from drifting so fast helped.

Have been messaging Dave but thought others may want to see this kayak.

I love dock shooting from the kayak. Personally, I think the go together like bread and butter, like they were meant for each other! I do agree with the wind being the biggest hindrance. A stout wind makes it close to impossible to stay where you want without some sort of anchor or stakeout pole. If it's blowing that bad, I usually ust longline..... Lol
