I doubt it would use a six-gallon tank if you ran it full-throttle all day long.
Looking for a high level guess here. 10hp (1982) on a light load aluminum 12 ft boat. How many water miles in a gallon of fuel? I know that other variables effect this, but again, high level guess please.

Closest real measurements I could find:

Thank you both. I really have a need to take a 3 gallon tank instead of 6. I was hoping my three gallons would be enough to get me up and down the lake it's 5 miles long. Seems you've answered my question.

I don't know if this will help, but for several decades we trolled with a 1960 something Evinrude 6 hp (at mostly idle speeds) on a 20' trihull. It would troll 2 full days, I'd say at least 18 or 20 hours, on three gallons. There's no telling how many miles that was, but figuring that most of us troll at about 1 mph nowadays (we didn't know how fast we were going back then, just looked at the bank and tried to judge the speed) that's 18 or 20 miles on 3 gallons.
