    Default Repair suggestions.

Since my fishing is on hold,I dug an old bass hunter two man plastic boat out of storage for a winter project. This boat is over twenty five years old,so it has a few small cracks here and there.
I flipped the boat over, and cleaned the lipped seam, the seal in the lip is a bit pitted,so it needs filled with something just to insure it doesn't leak.Any suggestions on how and what to use to fill in the pitted seam, and repair the small cracks ( each are under 2" long )
I have been reading reviews on flex seal,it looks promising, but am open to suggestions, thanks.

For filling the seams, find a silicone sealer that is made to be sturdy and flexible. ( I bought some from a camper place for repairing leaks around Windows and such. ) on the cracks, go to auto parts place and see if they have a product to repair plastic bumpers. Or a auto paint store. That plastic is hard to repair without the proper material.

If the lip is used as a handle you'll have to check it often for damage after the repair. I've made a few plastic repairs with silicone. The seal looks good after, but it will wear or peel off if touched to much.
I've used epoxy and fiberglass kits. They get hard and will peel/break off of the plastic.
I've used flex seal a couple of times and it's done pretty good. The clear will turn yellow when left out in the sun.

I've been looking at several sealants, flex seal is standing out to me.I believe I will purchase a couple cans, and fill the seam, and paint the inside floor and a couple inches up the sides with it.Ive cut a 3/4" treated plywood floor for it,to give it a sturdier platform, and will water seal it with Thompsons.

Luckely this little plastic boat being 30 years old,has been well taken care of.The only repair needed is the seam resealed, and three 2" cracks on the upper part of the hull, all are high, and easily repaired.I will be applying the second coat of liquid flex seal to the seam this afternoon ,the first coat penatrated the porous seam very well, and appears to filled any pits .
The small cracks appear to be sealed as well,I pushed the flex seal into the cracks, then gave each a thin expanded coat,I will also be applying one more thin coat to them. After all is dry,I will be painting the boat, though I haven't settled on the color yet.

Have you ever heard of a product called "Shoe Goo" it is clear, it dries clear, stays plyable and won't peal. Works very good on kayaks and plastic bass Hunter type boats.

Yes,shoe goo is a great product,I've used it on rubber boots and waders.I purchased an 18 oz can of flex seal brush on for $13.00, I've double coated the seam all the way around the boat, and all four corners inside the platform area.Ive also sealed a couple small cracks, after two weeks it rained and filled the deck of the boat with about 2" of water,so far the product has sealed well with no leaks.
I tried to peel the flex seal from the plastic boat, but could not.My next step is to prep the boat for a complete paint job, flex seal says paint will stick to it,here's hoping it does.
