    As for drag, I think it depends on the size of your kayak and the size of the catfish. I pretty much always fish from a kayak and mine is more or less the smallest fishing kayak you can find, and I personally wouldn't string any catfish (besides bullheads). If your kayak is bigger than that, which I hope it is, then it largely depends on how big the catfish is in relation to your kayak.

    Mine's an Ocean Torque, 13'-4". If I thought it was dangerous I'd do something else. In fact, I guess I have. I use a 40 quart ice chest which sits behind me.
