Yu don't have to tell me twice about gators, I use my kayaks in bayous around Louisiana. The one good thing about the pelican 100 is the bungee cords for the back, if I can throw them in that and fasten it with those bungees it should hold fine. I don't use the back for much since all I need is one or two tackle boxes and that can sit in the seat with me. I've gotten away from stringers...just a mess to use compared to other ways of storage. Thanks for that idea that could be all I need...and if I lose it I'm only out a few pennies.

You are exactly right about the catfish barbs poking a hole in the insides. I don't keep catfish so I wasn't even considering them. Good point! (pun intended)

That's no good, it all inflates. Might do better with something like this. Sevylor Cooler Float | eBay

I use a soft side for catfish. Only keep 2 or 3 # cats. I do cut the barbs off with side cutters , have been stuck to many times.

I neve r thought of that! Sometimes if I throw one in the live well with a bunch of crappie a couple of the crappie die from stab wounds.
Note to self: Pick up pair of side cutters for boat

I'm going to give the 1.00 freezer bags that walmart sells by the ice cream. Will put freezer packs in plastic bags inside the Walmart bag. I think you can get them at the dollar store also. Just going to put it behind my seat. Saw a demo on utube between the dollar bag and the expensive fish bags. The dollar bag stayed slightly colder. Pop

I use a cooler bag like this. They keep ice very well and are wider than the squire coolers. Doesn't take up much room. You can find them at Walmart, Academy & other sport stores

Do you put the fish in a plastic bag inside the Arctic bag? My concern is getting the odor out. Pop

I do only use the bag & ice. I rinse the bag out and let it hang upside down outside to dry and never noticed any bad smell. I only use this bag for fishing and holding fish but I wouldn't want a stinking bag neither

I use a thick rope saltwater stringer, and I attached two floats on the end to keep the fish on top of the water. I tie it off short so I don't notice any drag. I put the stringer through the gills, toward the mouth, and they live longer, but eventually will die. I've had several good fish on at one time and it worked for me.
